Experience one of North Queensland's most iconic running challenges at the Townsville Castle Hill Foot Race. This prestigious event features two distance options on Castle Hill, a stunning 286-metre landmark that rises dramatically above North Ward.
Choose between the 4.2km course, ideal for first-time hill runners, or the challenging 7.5km route that tests experienced athletes with extended elevation gain. Both courses reward your effort with spectacular panoramic views across Townsville, Cleveland Bay, and Magnetic Island.
The race combines sustained climbing through winding pathways and natural bushland with technical descents on uneven terrain, making it a true test of both climbing power and running skill. Hill training beforehand is recommended, and walkers are welcome to participate at their own pace.
The race starts from Kennedy Street in North Ward, approximately 3km from Townsville CBD. Street parking is available in the area, though arriving early is advised. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your start time for registration and warm-up.
