About this event
Cause
The 5K Freedom Challenge raises funds and awareness for programs that protect women and children from exploitation and human trafficking. Organized by Captivating International (registered charity), every dollar raised supports real programs fighting trafficking across Australia, the USA, and beyond.
What to Expect
The 5K Freedom Challenge is a flexible virtual event running throughout August. Participants choose their own challenge: complete your first 5K non-stop, accumulate 50km across the month, or set a custom distance goal. Participants can run, walk, or combine both. You can take part solo or join the Stop Trafficking 5K Strava club to connect with a global community, log activities, and stay motivated through monthly movement challenges.
How to Participate
- Sign up at stoptrafficking5k.org and select your challenge level (5K, 50K, or custom)
- Start your movement in August — run, walk, or mix both at your own pace
- Optional: Join the Strava club to log activities, see others participating, and receive monthly challenge updates
- Track your progress and share your journey on social media to inspire others
Cost
Entry is free for all participants. The event is powered by donations — while not required to participate, donations fuel the $150,000 goal for trafficking protection programs.
Fundraising Options
- Create a personal fundraising page and ask friends and family to sponsor you
- Organize a local 5K walk or run in your community and recruit 20–50 participants as a team
- Share your Strava activities on social media to increase visibility and attract donors
Year-Round Participation
While the main challenge runs in August, Captivating International offers monthly movement challenges throughout the year, so you can continue supporting the cause beyond August.
