About this event
The AKD Otway Trail Run is a point-to-point trail running and walking event through the scenic Otways, following the Old Beechy Rail Trail between Barongarook, Kawarren and Gellibrand.
On Sunday 21 March 2027, participants can choose between a 16km trail run from Barongarook and a shorter 6km run or community walk starting at Kawarren. Both runs finish at Rex Norman Park in Gellibrand, providing a memorable route through cool bushland, undulating forest and open pastoral landscapes.
- 16km trail run: starts at 9am from Barongarook and is available to participants aged 16 and over.
- 6km trail run: starts at 10am from Kawarren and is timed.
- 6km community walk: starts at 9.30am from Kawarren and is not timed.
- Canicross: runners with dogs can take part five minutes after the relevant run or walk start time.
The longer course descends through the Otways towards Birnam Station before continuing through bushland and countryside to Kawarren and the finish in Gellibrand. The shorter course begins at Kawarren and follows the rail trail to the same finish area.
Parking is available at Barongarook, Kawarren and Gellibrand. Participant numbers are limited, so early entry is recommended. Proceeds support the Colac Area Health Foundation and Rotary programs.
