Event location
Description
The Backroads Gravel Run on Saturday, 8 August 2026, in Chapman Valley, WA, offers a Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5km run, attracting runners and riders from across Australia as part of the Midwest’s largest mass participation sporting event.
The Marathon is a demanding gravel race along scenic dirt roads, featuring an undulating course with a total elevation gain of 403 meters. Participants can compete individually or as part of a two-person relay team, supported by well-stocked aid stations including the renowned Butcher’s Knife Road station.
The 14km trail run welcomes both new and experienced trail runners and walkers, traversing varied terrain such as grass, gravel, hills, and firebreaks through stunning breakaway country. The course challenges with technical trails in the first half and smoother firebreak trails to the finish.
The 5km run is a park-run style event designed for all ages, offering an engaging gravel experience over mixed surfaces including pavement, bitumen, gravel, and firebreaks.
