About this event
The Cooly Classic is a celebrated open-water swimming festival held on the southern Gold Coast, with swimmers taking on a scenic point-to-point course along the coastline of Coolangatta.
The signature 2km Cooly Classic begins at the world-famous Snapper Rocks surf break and follows the coast past Rainbow Bay, Greenmount and Coolangatta Beaches before finishing at Kirra Beach. It is the event’s headline distance and attracts swimmers of all abilities.
For a greater challenge, the Cooly 5.0 is a 5km marathon swim. The course extends beyond the shorter routes towards North Kirra before returning to the finish at Kirra Beach, with the field capped at 200 swimmers.
The 2027 festival is scheduled for 15–16 May 2027 in Coolangatta. Other listed swim options include 1km and 3km distances, along with a 1km junior swim and an open-water clinic. Event times and entry fees are yet to be announced.
