About this event

The Cooly Classic Ocean Swim Festival is a coastal open-water swimming event held in Coolangatta on the Gold Coast, showcasing some of Australia’s most famous surf breaks, including Snapper Rocks, Rainbow Bay, Greenmount, Coolangatta and Kirra.

The festival features four swim distances, from 1km to 5km, with the signature 2.0km Cooly Classic drawing the biggest field. That course runs from Snapper Rocks to Kirra Beach, giving swimmers a scenic point-to-point route along the coastline.

Beyond race day, the festival also includes small-group sessions and clinics with guest coaches, offering swimmers the chance to sharpen their technique and train with local squads at popular open-water locations on the Gold Coast.

This event suits competitive swimmers, ocean swim regulars and anyone keen to experience one of Queensland’s best-known coastal swim settings in a lively festival atmosphere.
