About this event
Cause
Almost one in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85. Daffodil Day Dip is a national fundraising initiative run by Cancer Council Australia to support life-saving cancer research and vital support services for those affected by cancer. By taking the plunge in August, you're directly supporting Australians impacted by cancer and advancing medical breakthroughs.
What to Expect
Join thousands of Australians taking a cold plunge to brave the chill for a cause. Participants dip into oceans, lakes, rivers, pools, or even baths during August 2026. You can participate once, twice, every weekend, or daily—it's entirely up to you. The event runs throughout August, with Daffodil Day officially on August 20. Expect an invigorating challenge, community support, and the satisfaction of raising funds for cancer research. Over 6,251 people participated in the last campaign, raising over $673,000.
How to Participate
- Step 1: Sign up - Register for free at the official Daffodil Day Dip website and set up your fundraising page. Choose when and where you'll take your dip.
- Step 2: Raise funds - Ask friends and family to donate to your fundraising page. Share your campaign on social media to reach more supporters. All funds go directly to cancer research and support services.
- Step 3: Take the plunge - Dip or dive into cold water anytime during August 2026. Document your moment and share it with your supporters.
Cost
Registration is completely free for all participants. There is no entry fee. However, the event encourages fundraising—participants raise donations from supporters to fund cancer research and services. You set your own fundraising goal.
Milestone Rewards
Participants who register and kickstart their fundraising can upgrade their complimentary swim cap to a special limited-edition Daffodil Cap to wear during the plunge. Stock is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Participants may also earn recognition as part of the national Daffodil Day Dip community for their fundraising efforts.
