About this event
The Great Kanku-Breakaways Bolt is held in the magnificent Kanku-Breakaways Conservation Park, 30 kilometers north of Coober Pedy, in outback South Australia. This annual event takes place on spectacular coloured hills within a registered Aboriginal heritage site, winding through the landscape along the dog fence and back to scenic lookouts.
Participants can choose from multiple running and walking distances: 42.2km marathon, 21.1km half marathon, 10km, or 5km, with options to compete individually or as part of a 10km team event. A special 2.5km fun run is available for children under 12 years old.
The full marathon consists of two laps of the out-and-back half marathon course and is a running-only event. All other distances can be run or walked according to preference.
For cycling enthusiasts, the event also offers bike ride options in 10km, 21.1km, 36km, and 72km distances through the conservation park.
