About this event

The Great Ocean Road Marathon is a scenic running event on one of Australia’s most iconic coastal roads, with the main marathon covering 44 kilometres from Lorne to Apollo Bay. It is part of the Great Ocean Road Running Festival, which brings together a weekend of running, music and wellness across Lorne and Apollo Bay.

Runners can choose from a variety of distance options, making the event suitable for different abilities and ambitions. The marathon course is known for its dramatic ocean views, winding coastal road sections and stretches through places such as Wye River, Kennett River and Skenes Creek.

The course includes on-course drink stations, and organisers provide shuttle transport for marathon runners between Apollo Bay and Lorne, with bus passes purchased during registration. The event is widely promoted as one of Australia’s most spectacular running experiences, drawing participants who want a challenging road race in a truly memorable setting.
