About this event
IRONMAN 70.3 Melbourne returns to St Kilda on Sunday, 8 November 2026, with a fast, spectator-friendly course set against Port Phillip Bay and Melbourne’s skyline.
The race begins with a 1.9-kilometre swim in the sheltered waters of the bay. Starting near the St Kilda Sea Baths, competitors swim beneath the iconic St Kilda Pier before exiting close to Catani Gardens.
The 90-kilometre bike course follows Beach Road on a fully closed route, taking athletes along Melbourne’s renowned bayside coastline. Its generally flat profile is designed for speed, although coastal winds can add a tactical challenge.
A 21.1-kilometre run along the St Kilda and Elwood foreshore completes the race. Participants can expect sweeping views of the beach, bay and city before finishing near Catani Gardens in the heart of St Kilda.
Race-week activities include an event expo at Catani Gardens from Friday, 6 November to Sunday, 8 November. With its compact coastal setting, accessible viewing points and flat, fast course, the event offers an engaging experience for athletes and spectators alike.
