Kowen Winter Trails
Event location
Description
The Kowen Winter Trail Runs on Sunday, 21 June 2026, offer a challenging and scenic trail running experience through native forest and groomed forestry trails near Canberra, NSW. Starting and finishing at the Wamboin Community Hall, runners begin with a 1.3 km out-and-back section along sealed Bingley Way before entering the Kowen Forest.
Participants can choose from marathon, half marathon, or 12 km distances, all featuring hilly terrain with significant elevation gains—approximately 1400 m for the marathon, 600 m for the half marathon, and over 400 m for the 12 km. The marathon course includes a demanding ascent of Mt Amungula, while the half marathon route climbs Mt Doom. The courses combine wide forestry trails with short sections of single track, providing spectacular views of Canberra and the surrounding region.
