About this event
The Mooloolaba Mile Ocean Swim is a popular open-water swimming event held in the sheltered waters of Mooloolaba Spit on the Sunshine Coast. With a safe, accessible course and easy entry and exit points, it welcomes swimmers of varying abilities in a scenic beachside setting.
The program includes several distances, providing options for junior participants, beginners and experienced ocean swimmers. Events include an 800-metre junior swim, 800-metre swim, the 1.6-kilometre Mooloolaba Mile, a 3-kilometre swim, a 5-kilometre swim and a 6-kilometre challenge.
The signature 1.6-kilometre Mooloolaba Mile follows a single lap of the triangle course, beginning and ending in the protected waters of Mooloolaba Spit. Longer distances use multiple laps, allowing swimmers to monitor their progress while building towards greater endurance goals.
Suitable for both recreational participants and competitive swimmers, the event offers a chance to take on a recognised open-water distance or progress beyond 5 kilometres in a more sheltered ocean environment.
