About this event
Mt Solitary Ultra is a demanding 45-kilometre trail running event through the Blue Mountains, starting and finishing at the Old Queen Victoria Hospital in Wentworth Falls. The out-and-back course travels towards Katoomba and through the Jamison Valley, including a traverse of Mt Solitary.
Runners can expect approximately 2,515 metres of elevation gain and a challenging mix of terrain, including fire trails, single track, steep technical climbs, stairs, creek and river crossings, rock scrambling and remote sections requiring self-sufficiency and navigation.
The course combines fast descents with rugged uphill sections, rolling trails and spectacular views across the Jamison Valley. Diverse native vegetation and multiple vantage points add to the character of this scenic but highly demanding ultra.
A staffed aid station is located at approximately the 25-kilometre mark at Prince Henry Picnic Area, with an additional unmanned water point around 37 kilometres. Runners must carry their own water containers, as disposable cups are not provided. Headphones are not permitted, while walking poles are allowed.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, 11 April 2027, in Wentworth Falls, New South Wales. The event is limited-entry, and participants should check the latest organiser information for registration requirements, course updates, start arrangements and current entry conditions.
