About this event

The Puffing Billy Great Train Race is a long-running running event set in the Dandenong Ranges, with the main 13.5km Classic race on Sunday 13 September 2026 taking runners from Belgrave to Emerald Lake Park.

Runners follow a scenic course through the hills of the Dandenong Ranges, with the race traditionally pitting participants against Puffing Billy steam locomotives over the full distance. The festival weekend also includes shorter events on the Saturday, making it a family-friendly running carnival as well as a signature endurance challenge.
