Cause
The Great Run Solo Christmas Challenge celebrates the power of movement during the festive season. Designed for runners and walkers of all abilities, it encourages people to stay active throughout December, building confidence and consistency for the new year ahead.
What to Expect
This is a virtual running and walking challenge where participants complete 12 runs or walks of any distance between 1 and 25 December. There are no set routes, distances, or times — you can run, jog, walk, or mix it up however suits your schedule and fitness level. You can participate indoors or outdoors, cover any distance, and log multiple activities per day. The challenge includes an optional Active Advent Calendar with 12 daily mini-challenges (like running in a Santa hat or creating a Reindeer route on Strava).
How to Participate
- Sign up before 7 December 2026
- Start your activities from 1 December
- Log your runs and walks using the Great Run online tracking tool or Strava integration
- Complete 12 activities by 25 December
- Submit your results by 7 January 2027
Cost
Entry is £16 GBP for UK participants. International participants pay an additional £3.50 shipping fee for medal delivery.
Milestone Rewards
Participants earn rewards based on activity and distance:
- Completion reward: Exclusive Christmas 2026 finisher's medal (doubles as a tree decoration) + digital finisher's certificate + access to online tracking tool
- Distance awards: Complete optional distance milestones for bonus digital certificates: Festive & Flying (30 miles), Merry & Motivated (60 miles), Wonderfully Wintered (100 miles)
Thousands of participants join the Great Run Strava group for training tips, support, and motivation throughout the challenge.
