Sunset Series – Melbourne Zoo is a twilight fun run and walk held on Wednesday, 3 February 2027, as the opening event in Melbourne’s annual Sunset Series.
Participants can choose between two distances: a 4.7-kilometre course or a 7.7-kilometre course. The route begins with a lap around the zoo before continuing inside Melbourne Zoo, where entrants run past animal habitats and landscaped grounds.
The course provides an unusual way to experience the zoo after dark, with views of habitats featuring lions, snow leopards, dingoes, Tasmanian devils, turtles and other animals. The event village is located near Brens Oval, with the start line at the zoo’s main entrance.
The Melbourne Zoo event is the first of three races in the 2027 Sunset Series, followed by events at Princes Park and The Tan later in February and March. Participants entering the complete series can select a distance at each race and receive a series singlet and collectible finisher medals, subject to event availability and entry conditions.
