About this event

The Sunshine Coast Solstice Swim returns to Alexandra Headland on Sunday, 20 June 2027, for its 10th annual community ocean swimming event.

Presented by the Alexandra Headland Rotary Club and Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club, the event welcomes ocean swimmers of different ages and abilities to take part in a choice of distances, including 500m, 1km, 3km and 5km swims. A shorter 50m-or-less novelty swim is also available for those looking for a fun introduction to the water.

Swimmers are supported by surf lifesavers on boards and in inflatable rescue boats, with courses adapted to conditions on the day. Participants receive a coloured swim cap matched to their distance, an event T-shirt, and refreshments after finishing. Completion times are recorded for participants.

Held around the winter solstice, the swim combines a relaxed beach atmosphere with a strong community focus. Proceeds support community and charitable causes, while the 50m Solstice Dash marks the actual solstice with a playful splash.
