About this event
Royal Yacht Club of Victoria's Tackers Junior Sailing Program gives children aged 7 to 12 a structured, friendly way to learn sailing on the water at Williamstown. The Term 4 2026 program includes first-timer and progression courses, with boats and life jackets supplied and no club membership or prior sailing experience required.
Designed for Young Sailors
Tackers is built around how children learn: active, social and confidence-building. The program is non-competitive, delivered by qualified instructors, and gives primary school aged participants a clear pathway from an introductory session through to more independent sailing.
Term 4 Course Options
- Tackers Intro: Saturday 24 October, 9:00am to 12:00pm, $80. A short first experience for children who want to try sailing before committing to the full Tackers 1 course.
- Tackers 1 - Having Fun: Saturdays 24 October, 7, 14 and 28 November, 5 and 12 December, 9:00am to 12:00pm, $330. First-time sailors learn basic boat parts, rigging, steering, stopping and safety on and around the water.
- Tackers 2 - Tricks and Techniques: Saturdays 24 October, 7, 14 and 28 November, 5 and 12 December, 1:00pm to 4:00pm, $330. For children who have completed Tackers 1 and are ready to build confidence sailing their own boat.
