About this event

The Furnace Backyard Ultra kicks off on Saturday, February 20, 2027, in Dalby, QLD, Australia. This event brings the unique survival challenge of the Backyard Ultra format to the Dalby region.

Competitors must complete a single loop of 6.706 kilometers (4.167 miles) within less than one hour, with a new lap starting precisely every hour on the hour. The race continues until only one runner remains capable of completing a lap, making it a test of endurance and stubbornness where there is no set finish distance or time.

The course is a flat, exposed dirt and grass track with minimal elevation, offering less than 20 meters of rise per lap. Participants must be in the starting corral when the bell sounds and start exactly at the bell, with no late starts allowed.

For a complete list of official rules, including details on pacing, aid, and elimination criteria, please refer to the event website.

Distances:
1 x 6.71K lap per hour - Last one standing format
