About this event
Round 1 of the Victorian Mountain Bike Championship Series launches the 2026 season at Mount Avoca Winery on Saturday, 14 November. The opening weekend forms part of a two-day Avoca double-header, with riders able to compete for championship points across both rounds.
This cross-country Olympic-style mountain bike event features racing across a course of approximately 4 to 6 kilometres per lap, including fast sections through the vines and varied terrain around the winery grounds. Riders complete a set number of laps determined by their category, with racing available across junior and masters divisions.
To accommodate the neighbouring Trail Run Wine weekend, the Saturday race program is divided into two starts at 1:00 pm and 2:45 pm. Competitors are grouped by category so riders of similar ability and race pace share the course.
The event offers a festival-style setting at Mount Avoca Winery, alongside trail running, wine and family-friendly activities. Free camping is available for competitors across the opening weekend, subject to event arrangements.
