The Black Mountain Run Up & Power Walk takes place on Tuesday, 16 June 2026 in Canberra, ACT, Australia. This free event, organised by the Australian Mountain Running Association, is part of a monthly series held on the third Tuesday of each month.
Participants can choose to run or power walk a 2.6 km route starting from Clunies Ross Street, Acton, and finishing at the summit of Black Mountain. The course begins with an 800-meter flat section along a 4WD trail beside the Botanic Gardens fence. At Frith Road, turn left and ascend approximately 400 meters uphill before turning right, following the Centennial Trail signpost. After passing through the Canberra Nature Park gate, take a left onto the Summit Trail. Near the summit, at the highest point on the concrete path, turn right following another Centennial Trail sign for the final 150 meters to the finish line.
This scenic route offers a rewarding challenge with an elevation gain of about 236 meters, showcasing the natural beauty of the Botanic Gardens and Black Mountain Reserve. The event welcomes participants of all fitness levels, encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle in a supportive community atmosphere.
