Black Mountain Run Up & Power Walk
Event location
Description
The Black Mountain Run Up & Power Walk takes place on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, in Canberra, ACT. This free event is part of a monthly series held on the third Tuesday of each month, organised by the Australian Mountain Running Association.
Participants can choose to run or power walk a challenging 2.6-kilometre course starting from Clunies Ross Street, Acton, and finishing at the summit of Black Mountain. The route begins with an 800-metre flat section along a 4WD trail adjacent to the Botanic Gardens fence. At Frith Road, follow the uphill path for approximately 400 metres before turning right onto the Centennial Trail. After passing through the Canberra Nature Park gate, take a left onto the signposted Summit Trail. Near the summit, a final right turn on the Centennial Trail leads to the finish line.
This event welcomes all fitness levels, offering an excellent opportunity to enjoy Canberra’s natural beauty while improving endurance, strength, and cardiovascular health. Participants are encouraged to arrive between 12:30 pm and 12:40 pm for a briefing before the run and walk start at 12:45 pm. After finishing, runners record their times, and official photos are usually taken and shared by the organisers.
