The Bloody Long Walk: Newcastle
Join a 35km walking and running challenge on Sunday, August 23, 2026, starting at Redhead Beach and finishing at Foreshore Park. Participants traverse a spectacular course along the Fernleigh Track, across Lee Wharf, and through Newcastle's city streets while raising vital funds for mitochondrial disease research and support.
Walk, jog, or run at your own pace—solo or as part of a team. Whether you're seeking a personal challenge or a meaningful cause, this event combines scenic beauty with the opportunity to support those living with mitochondrial disease. A comprehensive 10-week training programme is available to help you prepare.
All proceeds support research and assistance for patients and families affected by this debilitating genetic disorder. Well-organized pit stops, encouraging signage, and enthusiastic volunteers make for an inspiring day.
