About this event
The Bloody Long Walk: Sydney North is a 35km walking and running challenge taking place on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from Palm Beach to the Manly Promenade in Sydney, NSW.
Walk, jog, or run along this fully supported course, taking in spectacular coastal scenery, postcard-worthy beaches, and stunning water views, all while raising vital funds to help find cures for mitochondrial disease (mito).
This event is proudly organised by the Mito Foundation, the peak body supporting Australians affected by mitochondrial disease. Mitochondrial disease is a debilitating, often life-threatening genetic disorder that prevents the body’s cells from producing enough energy to function properly. Around one in 200 Australians carry genetic changes that put them at risk of developing mito, and approximately one child born in Australia each week will develop a severe form of the disease—around 70 children each year. Tragically, most children diagnosed with mitochondrial disease do not survive beyond their first five years of life.
By participating in The Bloody Long Walk: Sydney North, you’re helping to drive research, support affected families, and bring us closer to effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
