The Bluff to Bar Ocean Swim is Alexandra Headland’s signature open-water challenge, bringing swimmers from the Bluff down the Sunshine Coast shoreline to the finish at Alex Surf Club on Saturday, 3 October 2026.
This professionally managed, safety-supported point-to-point event is designed for confident ocean swimmers, triathletes and open-water enthusiasts who want a true coastal swim rather than a pool race.
Swimmers can choose between two distances:
- 1.2km Ocean Swim for the full Bluff to Bar experience
- 500m Junior Ocean Swim for swimmers aged 9 to 11
The event is held in support of local surf lifesaving, with every entry helping to fund surf lifesaving and youth development programs at Alex Surf Club.
Participants can expect a lively community atmosphere, finish-line hospitality and a finisher T-shirt. Elite swimmers compete for prizes, and junior and category prize packs are also part of the program.
For a scenic, saltwater challenge along one of the Sunshine Coast’s most iconic stretches, the Bluff to Bar Ocean Swim delivers a memorable mix of fitness, coastline and community spirit.
