About this event
Callala Triathlon — Aquabike State Championship is a one-day multisport event at Callala Beach on the northern shores of Jervis Bay, featuring ocean swimming and courses designed for a range of abilities. The event is organised by Elite Energy and includes the NSW Aquabike State Championship.
The aquabike championship follows the standard-distance format: a 1.5 km swim followed by a 40 km cycle, with no run leg. The swim starts and finishes on the beach near the event hub, while the cycling course forms part of the broader Callala Beach event course.
Triathlon competitors can choose from several race formats:
- Enticer: 200 m swim, 8 km cycle and 2 km run.
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 24 km cycle and 5 km run.
- Standard: 1.5 km swim, 40 km cycle and 10 km run.
- Kids events: Dedicated Tri Kidz categories for children aged 5–6, 7–9 and 10–11 years.
The run courses use local streets, footpaths and sections of bush trail around Callala Beach, with the exact swim configuration subject to conditions on the day. The event takes place on Saturday, 12 December 2026, with the event hub at the Callala Beach Community Hall Reserve.
