About this event
Start Australia Day with a splash at the Australia Day Wollongong Aquathon, a long-running community swim-run event set against Wollongong’s spectacular coastal backdrop. Welcoming participants of all ages and abilities, the event combines open-water swimming and running with a lively, family-friendly atmosphere.
Choose from a range of challenges designed for children, first-timers, recreational participants and experienced multisport athletes. Distances include the Kids Aqua, Mini Aqua, Short Aqua and Long Aqua, with swim legs of approximately 200 metres, 400 metres, 900 metres, 2 kilometres and 3 kilometres, alongside corresponding run courses. Solo and tag-team entries are available, allowing participants to race independently or share the challenge with a teammate.
The event takes place around Wollongong Harbour and the Blue Mile, providing a scenic setting for a summer morning of swimming, running and community celebration. Participants can aim for a personal best, complete a goal at their own pace or simply enjoy the excitement of taking part.
With events catering for children aged 6 to 12 as well as adult competitors, the Aquathon offers an accessible introduction to swim-run racing while still providing longer distances for those seeking a more demanding challenge. Spectators can support friends and family from the sidelines and enjoy the energetic coastal atmosphere.
Whether competing solo, joining a tag team or cheering from the shore, the Australia Day Wollongong Aquathon is a fun-filled way to celebrate summer, fitness and community beside the water.
