About this event
The Canberra Marathon is the headline event of the Canberra Times Marathon Festival, a two-day celebration of road running held across Canberra’s national capital precinct on 10–11 April 2027.
Starting from the event hub at John Dunmore Lang Place, the marathon covers the classic 42.195-kilometre distance and takes runners along iconic closed roads through Canberra. The festival’s program also includes a 21.1-kilometre half marathon, a 10-kilometre run, a 5-kilometre run and a children’s dash, offering challenges for experienced distance runners, first-time participants and families.
The shorter events are scheduled for the opening day, followed by the marathon and half marathon on the second day. A three-day festival expo adds to the weekend program, featuring running gear, giveaways and activities for participants and spectators.
With certified distances across the main races, a central event hub and a lively festival atmosphere, the Canberra Marathon offers an opportunity to race through some of the capital’s most recognisable surroundings while enjoying a major community running event.
