About this event
The Cole Classic returns to Manly on Sunday, 7 February 2027, celebrating 45 years of ocean swimming, community and giving back. One of Australia’s longest-running ocean swims, the event brings swimmers together for a spectacular coastal challenge and a lively day by the beach.
Participants can choose from 1km, 2km and 5km courses, making the event suitable for first-time swimmers, families and experienced open-water athletes. All courses begin at Shelly Beach and finish on the sand at Manly Beach, in front of the Manly Life Saving Club.
- 1km swim: A shorter course suited to beginners and families.
- 2km swim: The signature distance and a popular choice for ocean swimmers.
- 5km swim: A demanding endurance course for experienced swimmers seeking a longer challenge.
The swim takes place in the open water off Manly, with competitors following a course along one of Sydney’s most scenic beachside settings. The start at Shelly Beach is approximately a 10-minute walk from Manly, while the finish area is located at Manly Beach near the Manly Life Saving Club.
Swimmers can also use the event to support charitable causes through fundraising. With multiple distances, a celebrated ocean-swimming tradition and a picturesque route from Shelly Beach to Manly Beach, the Cole Classic offers an inclusive and memorable way to take on the ocean this summer.
