Description

Event Date:

Organiser: Maximum Adventure

The Great Adventure Challenge is a corporate fundraising Adventure Race. Teams of eight from different organisations will kayak, run and bike around the course, with a few mystery team challenges included to keep the race interesting. The 2023 location can now be revealed as the stunning Kangaroo Valley. It’s the perfect opportunity to get your work colleagues together, fundraise, get outdoors, build teamwork and experience a corporate team challenge like no other! If you think your work place would be up for entering a team, check out the link below or contact us for details.

The event is a direct fundraiser for Starlight Children’s Foundation so you will be raising funds to bring happiness to sick kids like Marley. You can’t ask for more inspiration than that.

There will be an info and navigation training session available prior the the event to help prepare teams for the challenges that they will face on race day. Teams who sign up early and reach fundraising targets will receive extra time bonuses before the race even begins!

Adventurers don’t need to be professional athletes, nor experts in all disciplines, because our event is about working, training and competing together as a team, across a course designed to test and push your limits.

“It was an amazing experience. The event really pushed us physically and mentally and helped the team bond as we navigated the challenges along the way. We were really proud of what we were able to achieve personally and for sick kids.” -Team member, Star Reachers

Expect the unexpected – as well as physical and mental challenge, we promise to deliver an event that is fresh, upbeat and above all fun.

The Great Adventure Challenge inspiration and purpose today, is to make a real difference by brightening the lives of seriously ill children in Australia. Teams are encouraged to raise vital funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, giving our Adventurers a huge sense of achievement both from a racing and fundraising perspective.

Since launch, in 2008, the Great Adventure Challenge has continued to grow, both in terms of Adventurers and monies raised, with many of our Adventurers coming back for more!

Our promise to adventurists is a well organised, challenging, fun, competitive experience and an opportunity to make a difference to Starlight Children’s Foundation.

THE RACE COURSE: A secret until the day

COURSE LENGTH: 60 – 70 km

COURSE TIME: 5 – 9 hours

START: 8:00am

FINISH: Approx. 5:00pm

The actual course will be revealed to our Adventurers on the morning of the event, so our teams will need to be able to think on their feet and begin fast preparation to best prepare for the challenge ahead.

From sunrise to sunset, teams will face a range of disciplines:

Mountain Biking – 35km approx predominately off road. A mixture of fire trails and single track where available. Nothing too technical.

Trail running – 15km approx – a mixture of fire trails and walking tracks with a bit of cross country thrown in for good measure.

Kayaking – 10km approx – in two person sit on top kayaks. Generally in protected waters.

Coasteering – 2km approx – hugging the shore line on foot finding the best route around, over and under obstacles. May involve some water jumps or short swims.

Mystery Tasks – Teams will meet mystery tasks at different points of the course, testing both the brain and body.

Navigation – Adventurers will need to hone their navigation/orienteering skills to help them collect all the checkpoints in the minimum time possible.
