About this event
Gutsy Girls Adventure is a ten-day program for girls and women aged 16 and over in the Walpole-Nornalup National Park. Running from 11 to 20 January 2027, it combines forest hiking, a rafting expedition and an overnight solo with group leadership activities.
From forest trails to paddling
After meeting the group and settling into camp, participants work through teamwork challenges before beginning the first overnight hiking expedition. Introductory map and compass lessons help the group plan a route and reach its campsites.
A values journey and overnight solo provide time for personal reflection midway through the program. Participants then swap packs for paddles, learning rafting techniques and safety skills before setting out on a multi-day paddling expedition. A final hiking stage gives the group another chance to practise navigation, communication and decision-making. The itinerary is indicative and may change.
A supported camping experience
Participants sleep in tents or under tarps shared with two or three others, carry their gear and help prepare meals. Outward Bound supplies tents or tarps and sleeping mats; participants bring a suitable sleeping bag and the clothing listed in the packing guide. No previous rafting experience or swimming ability is required according to the organiser. Participants must be able to carry their gear and manage moderate physical activity.
Booking and meeting the group
The advertised fee is A$2,297, with funding assistance available. Book through the event’s contact options and complete the pre-program medical and transport forms. The meeting point is Walpole Nornalup Visitor Centre, with the program returning there at 9am on the final day. The itinerary and FAQ give different first-day arrival times, so confirm the required arrival time with the organiser before travelling. Perth Airport transfers are offered at designated times and require advance arrangement.
