About this event
HOKA Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB is a multi-day trail running festival held from 13 to 16 May 2027 in Katoomba, at the heart of New South Wales’ Blue Mountains. The event welcomes runners, spectators and support crews for a series of races across the region’s scenic tracks, lookouts, forests and historic stairways.
Race distances cater to a wide range of abilities, from the 1-kilometre community event and 11.4-kilometre introductory course through to 22-kilometre, 51-kilometre, 101-kilometre and 161.1-kilometre ultra-distance races. The longest course includes approximately 7,200 metres of elevation gain, while the 11.4-kilometre course features approximately 731 metres of climbing.
Most races begin at Scenic World in Katoomba, and all event courses finish there. The 11.4-kilometre course starts at Scenic World and showcases sections of the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, Fern Bower and Federal Pass before tackling the 951 Furber Steps on the return to the finish.
With challenging climbs, sandstone escarpments, deep forest and expansive Blue Mountains scenery, the festival combines competitive ultra-running with an accessible entry point for newcomers to trail running. The event forms part of the UTMB World Series, offering a memorable race experience in one of Australia’s best-known mountain landscapes.
