About this event
kunanyi Mountain Run is a three-day trail-running festival held on kunanyi / Mount Wellington in Hobart, Tasmania, from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March 2027. The festival will host the first combined Australian Mountain and Trail Running Championships in 2027.
The programme opens on Friday with a Vertical Kilometre featuring more than 1,000 metres of elevation gain. Saturday’s longer mountain events include a 25km Mountain Run and Walk, 46km Alpine Marathon, 66km Ultra Solo, 66km Ultra Team Relay and an 84km Ultra with approximately 4,780 metres of climbing.
Sunday offers accessible options for a wide range of participants, including a 1.5km Kids Run and 5km, 9km and 14km Foothills events. Courses combine steep mountain terrain, alpine tracks and forested foothills, with distances suited to experienced ultra-runners, trail runners, families and newcomers.
The 66km relay is divided into six legs of approximately 7–12km, providing a team-based alternative to the solo ultra. Selected races carry UTMB Index recognition, and event results are submitted to ITRA and UTMB. Participants under 20 receive a 30% discount.
