Event location
Description
Organiser: Running Wild Australia
The Mt Buller Sky Run (Santa's Run) on 7 December 2025 is a renowned alpine trail running event held at Mt Buller Alpine Resort, Victoria. It offers four scenic race distances—5 km, 22 km, 36 km, and 45 km—catering to a range of abilities and providing stunning mountain vistas.
The 5 km course is a nature trail to Mt Buller’s summit, perfect for those seeking breathtaking views in a shorter run. The 22 km route introduces runners to technical trail running through alpine terrain. For more experienced runners, the 36 km and 45 km distances present greater challenges and spectacular scenery.
The 45 km ultra course is especially demanding, featuring a route from Mt Buller Village to Mt Stirling summit via Howqua Gap, a detour to Craig’s Hut, a scenic stretch along the Delatite River, and a final steep climb to Mt Buller’s summit, followed by an exhilarating 2 km descent to the finish line. Highlights include panoramic views of the Crosscut Saw, The Bluff, and surrounding alpine landscapes.
Participants are encouraged to embrace the festive spirit by wearing Christmas-themed running gear—red and green colors, Santa hats, or reindeer horns are highly welcomed—making this event a joyful celebration as well as a thrilling race.
