About the Club

Bendigo Bushwalking and Outdoor Club brings together people who enjoy exploring the outdoors in the company of fellow adventurers. Formed in 2008 through the merger of two local clubs, it offers activities around Bendigo, across Victoria and sometimes interstate or overseas.

What to Expect

  • Choose from social day walks, overnight and extended bushwalks, and day walks from a base camp.
  • The wider programme includes bike riding, canoeing, kayaking, rafting and cross-country skiing.
  • Activities cater for different interests and abilities. Select a trip within your capabilities and discuss its difficulty and requirements with the trip leader.
  • Meeting places vary by trip. Carpooling is encouraged, with fuel-sharing and any additional travel costs confirmed before departure.

How to Join

Prospective members are welcome to attend a club meeting or try an activity as a casual visitor. Contact the trip leader well in advance to book a place and confirm the meeting point, equipment and visitor fee. Casual visitors may attend no more than three walks before joining.

Annual membership is $40 for an individual or $60 for a family, covering 1 July to 30 June. Join by completing the membership form and sending it with payment to the treasurer. Use the contact details on this listing for enquiries.

Children under five cannot attend activities, except club meetings and the end-of-year celebration. Children over five must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; confirm arrangements for five-year-olds with the club.

As Victoria’s peak body for bushwalking, we represent all bushwalkers and bushwalking clubs in the state. Now an incorporated organisation, our roots go back to 1934 when the Federation of Victorian Walking Clubs was established. In 2006, a major restructure modernised the organisation and we adopted our current name to better reflect our key area of interest.

We work to unite members of Victoria’s diverse walking community – bushwalking club members, people from organisations with similar interests and individuals.
