About this event
The North Steyne Ocean Swim returns to Manly’s North Steyne Beach on Sunday, 21 March 2027, offering two ocean-swimming distances against the backdrop of one of Sydney’s most iconic beaches.
The 1km swim is suited to newer swimmers and participants aged nine and over. The shorter out-and-back course follows the shoreline in front of North Steyne Surf Club, providing an accessible introduction to ocean swimming and a relaxed, social challenge.
Swimmers aged 13 and over can take on the 2.8km course, travelling from North Steyne towards Fairy Bower and into the waters of Cabbage Tree Bay Marine Reserve before returning. The protected coastal setting offers scenic swimming and the possibility of seeing local marine life, including rays, fish, weedy seadragons and cuttlefish.
Registration is scheduled to open at 7am, with the 1km swim starting at 9.30am and the 2.8km swim at 10.15am. Presentations and post-swim catch-ups are scheduled for 11am. Event arrangements, including course details, may be finalised when entries open and can vary on the day.
With a lively surf-club atmosphere, enthusiastic volunteers and the relaxed energy of Manly’s beachfront, the North Steyne Ocean Swim is an inviting choice for first-time ocean swimmers, younger participants and experienced swimmers seeking a scenic coastal challenge.
