About this event
The Portland 3 Bays Running Festival is a coastal running celebration in Portland, Victoria, showcasing the dramatic scenery of the Great South West. The 2026 festival includes trail and road events across distances from 10.5km to 60km, with options for recreational runners, competitive athletes, teams and school groups.
The headline 60km Trail Ultra Marathon follows the Great South West Walk along Portland’s coastline. The course is predominantly single track, with sections of beach and challenging coastal terrain. A new 30km Coastal Trail Run offers a shorter trail option combining scenic trails, cliffs and coastal landscapes.
Road events include the 42.2km Marathon, described as one of Victoria’s oldest road marathons, along with a 21.1km Half Marathon and a relatively flat, fast 10.5km Quarter Marathon. The festival also features relay events, including an open eight-person marathon relay and school relay categories.
The festival takes place across the weekend of Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November 2026. Ultra and trail events are scheduled for Saturday, while the marathon, half marathon, quarter marathon and relay events are scheduled for Sunday. Participants can also attempt the 102km “Hybrid Fool” challenge by completing the 60km ultra on Saturday and the marathon on Sunday.
With road racing, technical trail running, relay participation and distances for a range of abilities, the Portland 3 Bays Running Festival offers an active way to experience Portland’s coastal setting and the wider Great South West region.
