About this event

Ride for the Kids is Brainwave Australia's free, month-long virtual cycling challenge. Throughout October, riders across Australia turn every kilometre into support for children living with brain injuries, illnesses and neurological conditions, and for the families navigating those diagnoses alongside them.

Ride Your Way This October

From 1 to 31 October 2026, choose a distance that feels meaningful and ride wherever it suits you. Kilometres can be completed on local roads, bike paths and trails, during the commute, at the gym or on an indoor trainer. Participants can ride solo, create a team or join with family members, friends, colleagues, a school or a cycling club.

There is no set distance and no race pace. A new or returning cyclist might aim for a few kilometres each week, while an experienced rider can set a much larger target. Every full kilometre completed during October counts towards the rider's personal or team goal.

Free to Join, With a Purpose

Registration is free. Each rider receives a personal fundraising page to share with supporters, and every dollar raised goes to Brainwave Australia. Funds help provide practical, whole-family support, including therapy and equipment funding, hospital assistance, emergency accommodation, family days and camps, parent and sibling programs, and guidance from diagnosis onwards.

Use the registration link on this event page to sign up, choose whether to participate individually or with a team, and set a cycling and fundraising goal.

Track Every Kilometre

Rides can be recorded through the event website or logged manually. Outdoor, gym and stationary-bike kilometres are all eligible, making the challenge accessible to riders with different experience levels, schedules and riding preferences. Participants can follow their progress, see fundraising totals and climb the event leaderboard throughout the month.

Celebrate Your Impact

Fundraising and activity milestones can unlock digital badges, partner offers and Ride for the Kids merchandise. The final reward tiers and team incentives for 2026 are set by the organiser, so participants should check their fundraising dashboard for the current milestones and eligibility details.

Ride for the Kids brings individuals, families, workplaces, schools and cycling communities together under the theme Together, We Ride. Whether the goal is a relaxed family ride or a major personal distance, each kilometre helps Brainwave Australia continue supporting children and families across the country.
