About this event
The San Remo Channel Challenge is a fast-paced aquathon combining a 550-metre swim with a 2-kilometre run. Held on Saturday, 6 February 2027, the event begins on the San Remo foreshore, south of the pier, before competitors swim across the channel to Newhaven on Phillip Island.
After the swim, participants transition at the change station and continue on foot across the bridge. The run heads towards Anderson before turning back towards San Remo, with the finish located near the San Remo Hotel Motel.
The course delivers two distinct challenges: an open-water channel swim influenced by the tide, followed by a short, demanding run over the bridge and along the road. Competitors can take part individually or enter as a relay team, making the event suitable for both experienced athletes and participants looking for a memorable community challenge.
Set against the picturesque Bass Coast, the event brings swimmers, runners and spectators together for an energetic day on the water and foreshore. Its unusual swim-and-run format, compact course and island crossing make the San Remo Channel Challenge a distinctive fixture on the Victorian event calendar.
