About this event
SHAKA 24 is an endurance running fundraiser in Waurn Ponds that brings teams together for a relay-style challenge over 12 or 24 hours. Held at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds, the event is built around laps on a fast, flat road course and is designed for groups of three or more who want to keep at least one teammate on the track at all times.
More than just a running event, SHAKA 24 has a strong community focus and supports mental health awareness and suicide prevention. It encourages participants to run or walk in relay format while helping to reduce stigma and raise funds for prevention workshops across Australia.
With a large field and limited places, it suits runners, walkers, workplace teams, clubs and community groups looking for a shared challenge with a meaningful purpose. The atmosphere is likely to suit both competitive teams aiming for distance and social teams taking on the course at their own pace.
