About this event
Sweat vs Steam is a distinctive running event along the Murray River at Echuca, where participants race the PS Pevensey paddle steamer to the finish line. The event showcases the historic Port of Echuca and surrounding riverside scenery, with the paddle steamer offering spectators a memorable vantage point over the action.
The program includes a 10km run, a 5km run, a 1km junior event and a 500m junior dash. The 10km course follows a full lap, while the 5km course covers a half lap and both longer courses include Scenic Drive and off-road sections on riverside dirt roads. The 10km course has approximately 8 metres of elevation gain, making it a relatively fast route.
Races are scheduled throughout the morning, beginning with the 10km event at 8am, followed by the 5km at 9am and the junior races at 9.50am. Race registration and bib collection are available on the afternoon before the event, with additional collection available on race morning.
Held on Sunday 15 November 2026 in Echuca, Sweat vs Steam welcomes runners, junior participants, families and spectators for a community-focused day beside the Murray River. All profits from the 2026 event will be donated to Echuca Regional Health.
