About this event
The Great Bayside Swim returns to Middle Brighton on Saturday 23 January 2027 for a celebration of open-water swimming, community and summer by the bay. Presented by the Rotary Club of Brighton in association with the Brighton Lifesaving Club, the event supports community charities.
Swimmers of different ages and abilities can choose from a range of events, including the 2,500m open-water swim, 1,400m open-water swim, 650m intermediate swim, 300m junior dash and 200m junior dash. The longer courses travel around the breakwater and marina, while the 650m event runs from the marina to the beach.
The first event is scheduled for 9am, with the junior dashes, intermediate swim and 1,400m events following throughout the morning. Participants can enjoy the distinctive Brighton setting, with the beach, marina, bathing boxes and Melbourne skyline creating a memorable backdrop for a friendly and inclusive bayside challenge.
Whether chasing a personal best, taking on an open-water swim for the first time or encouraging younger swimmers from the shore, the Great Bayside Swim offers an active way to enjoy a classic Victorian summer morning while contributing to worthwhile local causes.
