Whitehaven Beach Open Water Swim is a scenic open water challenge held on the world-famous sands of Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays on Sunday 4 October 2026.
Set against turquoise water and brilliant white silica sand, the event brings swimmers together for a memorable day in one of Queensland’s most iconic coastal locations. It is organised by Masters Swimming Queensland and the North Mackay Sinkers, and entries are open to all swimmers.
Swimmers can choose from a range of distances to suit their goals and experience:
- 500m for a short swim in paradise
- 1km for a relaxed open water experience
- 2km for a more rewarding challenge
Entry includes a full-day return trip from Shute Harbour, reef and island taxes, transfers ashore, the swim itself, and a light lunch package. A limited number of guest ferry tickets are also available for non-swimming companions, making it an enjoyable day out for supporters as well as participants.
Official event T-shirts are available during registration for an additional cost. With its unique setting, friendly atmosphere and choice of distances, this is an unforgettable open water swim experience in tropical North Queensland.
