About this event
Women's Social Cricket at Kalang Park is built for women who want a relaxed, beginner-friendly way to get outside, meet local people and learn the basics of cricket without pressure. The program is especially welcoming if you have never held a bat before, with the emphasis on fun, confidence and connection rather than competition.
Free Try Day
The season begins with a free try day on Sunday 18 October, from 2pm to 3pm at Kalang Park in Blackburn. It is a chance to turn up, have a go, meet a few people and decide afterwards whether the full program feels right for you. There is no cost and no commitment for the try day.
Five Sunday Sessions
The paid Social Sixes program starts on Sunday 25 October and runs for five Sunday afternoons through to 29 November, skipping Melbourne Cup weekend. Each session runs from 2pm to 3pm. Participants are shown how to bat, bowl and field, with everyone encouraged to go at their own pace. The sessions are designed specifically for women and run with support from Cricket Victoria.
Who It Suits
No experience is needed and all fitness levels are welcome. Most participants are expected to be complete beginners, so everything is taught from scratch and equipment is supplied. Wear activewear and runners, bring a friend if you like, and come along when you can.
Optional Social Games
After the five-week block, participants can join casual short Sunday games against nearby women's social teams. These games are one-hour, friendly and optional, and they are included in the program cost.
Cost
The full five-session program costs $50, including the optional post-Christmas social games. Use the registration option on this event page to join.
