Introduction:
We are a small friendly club and we enjoy the pleasure of sharing our common interests in the bush, having fun and keeping fit. We offer great Sunday walks and aim at a minimum of two weekends away and several social gatherings throughout the year.
Bunarong Bushwalking Club is a friendly club based on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria for over 24 years. We share a passion for walking through all of Victoria's natural splendour from high Alpine mountain peaks to wild ocean beaches, trees fern-covered eucalyptus forests and breathtaking waterfalls on bold craggy tracks. Have a look at our walks program here. We preview, choose and select our walks to suit the differing capabilities and preferences of our members, ranging from pleasant social get-togethers, leisurely strolls, to more challenging walks that are more physically challenging but are always achievable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. Our club provides walks for members to enjoy on Sundays and Wednesdays throughout most of the year. The club organises special event walking weekends away at least twice every year and members have organised many overseas walking adventures in Europe and the South Pacific. We have developed a friendly social atmosphere where everyone feels welcome to join on our walks with light-hearted conversation along the trail and afternoon coffee at the end of a pleasant day out. Club meetings are held every two months at: St Aidans Church Hall, 5 Poulson St, Carrum. Melway Map 97 Ref: D7.

About the provider
As Victoria’s peak body for bushwalking, we represent all bushwalkers and bushwalking clubs in the state. Now an incorporated organisation, our roots go back to 1934 when the Federation of Victorian Walking Clubs was established. In 2006, a major restructure modernised the organisation and we adopted our current name to better reflect our key area of interest.
We work to unite members of Victoria’s diverse walking community – bushwalking club members, people from organisations with similar interests and individuals.

Thinking of hiking/bushwalking groups?
Social hiking or bushwalking groups can be organized by a variety of organizations, including local parks and recreation departments, hiking clubs, and online communities.
The benefits of joining a social hiking group are numerous. For one, it can provide a sense of community and motivation, as you have the support and encouragement of others to help you stick to your hiking routine. Hiking groups can also be a great way to meet new people and make new friends, especially if you are new to an area or looking to expand your social circle.
In terms of structure, social hiking groups can vary. Some groups may have a designated leader who plans the route and sets the pace, while others may be more informal, with participants simply showing up and hiking together. Some groups may meet on a regular basis, such as once a week, while others may be more sporadic.
