About this event
Ballarat has a rich sporting and cultural history. The BALLARAT MARATHON is designed to celebrate this. Held annually in late April, the Ballarat Marathon will be a two-day running festival, open to both elite and recreational athletes. Our event will showcase one of regional Australia’s most beautiful and historic cities and promote health and wellbeing across the community.
We are inviting elite and recreational runners to visit the city and #RUNTHERAT.
1 Mile Run
Race through history as Ballarat’s beautiful inner-city streets come alive for this Saturday evening one-mile dash. This is a race for everyone: from the elite four-minute milers to those looking to complete a short road running event for the first time.
5km Run
Be inspired by the beauty of Australia’s best-preserved gold rush-era city while completing two laps of our 2.5km course. This will be a spectacular Saturday afternoon event for runners and spectators alike.
10km Run
Take in Sturt Street and Victoria Park on our scenic and fast 10km course. Ballarat’s glorious autumnal colours will be on show for this Sunday morning race over a distance that’s achievable for a range of fitness levels.
Half Marathon
Revel in the highlights of beautiful Ballarat during this Sunday morning tour of the city. Our 21.1km course takes you into Victoria Park, through the Arch of Victory and around Lake Wendouree, then finishes with the historic beauty of Lydiard and Sturt Streets.
Marathon
Test yourself over the full 42.195km marathon distance in this epic Sunday morning event by completing two laps of our scenic Steve Moneghetti-designed 21.1km course. Autumn colours, beautiful scenery and historic buildings. This race has it all.
