Black Mountain Run Up & Power Walk
Event location
Description
The Black Mountain Run Up & Power Walk takes place on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, as part of a monthly series held on the third Tuesday of each month.
This free 2.6 km event starts at the car park entrance on Clunies Ross Street, Acton, Canberra, and finishes at the summit of Black Mountain, with an elevation gain of 236 metres. The route begins with a mostly flat 800-metre section along a 4WD trail beside the Botanic Gardens fence. Participants then turn left onto Frith Road for an uphill stretch of approximately 400 metres before turning right onto the Centennial Trail, following signposts through the Canberra Nature Park gate. Nearing the summit, a final right turn on the Summit Trail leads the last 150 metres to the finish line.
The event is organised by the Australian Mountain Running Association. Runners and walkers are encouraged to arrive between 12:30 pm and 12:40 pm for a briefing at 12:45 pm, with the run starting promptly after. Finish times are recorded at the summit, and event photos are typically shared on the association’s Facebook page.
