The Bloody Long Walk: Brisbane

Join a 35km walking, jogging, or running challenge on Sunday, June 21, 2026, traversing from Sandgate to Brisbane Botanic Gardens. This scenic event offers participants the opportunity to experience spectacular local landscapes while raising vital funds for mitochondrial disease research and support.

Owned and operated by the Mito Foundation, 100% of profits support people affected by mitochondrial disease, fund treatment and cure research, and advance education and advocacy initiatives. Participants can join as individuals or as part of a team, with access to a comprehensive 10-week training program to prepare for the challenge.

The event features multiple checkpoints positioned 3.5–7km apart, offering water refills, medical support, sunscreen, toilets, fruit, and encouragement from volunteers throughout the route. Participants typically complete the walk in 7–8 hours. Those who fundraise $200 or more receive an exclusive drink bottle, and those raising $350 or more receive a commemorative t-shirt and hat.
