The Burnie Ten is Tasmania’s iconic community running event and a major fixture on the Australian road running calendar. The 2026 event is scheduled for Sunday, 25 October 2026, with races held on and around Wilson Street in Burnie.
The headline event is the 10km road race, supported by a 5km race and an 800m kids’ dash, making it a race day for competitive runners, fun runners and families alike.
The course begins on Wilson Street and runs south towards the Bass Highway before turning for a return leg and a fast final dash to the finish. The event is known for its lively atmosphere, strong local support and simple city-centre setting that puts spectators close to the action.
For 2026, the event program includes a 10:00am start for the 10km race, followed by the 5km and kids’ dash. A two-hour time limit applies to the 10km.
As well as race day action, the event includes bib collection, bag storage, toilets and other participant facilities in the Burnie city centre area. It is a well-established community event that attracts runners of all ages and abilities.
