About this event
Cairns Airport IRONMAN Cairns is one of Tropical North Queensland’s signature endurance events, bringing together a world-class triathlon experience with a distinctly coastal setting. The race is known for its scenic “Race in Paradise” atmosphere, with a course that showcases the region’s reef, rainforest and tropical surrounds.
For the 2027 event, the race is scheduled for Sunday 13 June 2027 and features a swim at Palm Cove, a bike leg that heads north along the scenic coastal roads towards Port Douglas, and a run that includes the Cairns boardwalk before finishing in Cairns. The event is recognised for its memorable bike course and its strong appeal to both athletes and their support crews.
IRONMAN Cairns has been part of the regional sporting calendar for more than a decade and is widely regarded as a must-do race on the IRONMAN circuit. Its location near the Great Barrier Reef also makes it an appealing destination event, with easy access to tropical islands, reef experiences and the Daintree Rainforest.
The race offers a full IRONMAN distance challenge in a spectacular North Queensland setting, combining open-water swimming, a coastal bike course and a city finish that captures the energy of Cairns.
